Is it worth shipping this monstrous unit back to Nokia for the warranty repair, or just buy a new one? Shipping is gonna be astronomical for this, plus I don't have the original packaging!

I called a local repair shop and they said they do not have parts/schematics for this...

i'm pretty sure if you were to send it back it would have to be to Viewsonic as they bought out the Nokia monitor line. Don't know if that would complicate things. Darn it, I feel your pain since I have a 445Pro myself from the Dell deal 2 years back.

I contacted Nokia and they gave me an RMA. They are going to repair it within 7-10 days upon arrival, then ship it back. My cost will be around $20 shipped here from my company. Hopefully everything will work out.

BTW I called the Nokia 800 number on the warranty card and got a machine, I left my number, etc. Then I called Viewsonic support since I found my monitor on their website, and they told me to contact the number I already called.

I received a call-back a few hours later and she had me fax my receipt from Dell, and then called me back within an hour w/ my RMA. Yay!

One more note: I do not have the original box (who would keep that gigantic thing around!) so now I have to find a suitable box for it.

Update:

I called after waiting 2 weeks for an update, and the person said that they didn't hear from the service center yet. She said that if they do not locate it by the end of the day, they will send me a replacement.

I received it 2 days later = ) Thank God! The 17" loaner was quite blurry and was killing my eyes...

They asked me to fax them the Dell receipt, which fortunately had the S/N on it as well, since I didn't have my monitor at hand during the time of the call.

The warranty is for 3 years, and luckily the monitor went down within 2.5 years.

The replacement was another 445 PRO.

Also, I'm not sure if running it at 1280x1024 @ 100Hz had something to do w/ it's demise. I installed the Nokia Display drivers from the Viewsonic website, and it allows that resolution/refresh rate, so I'm still running the replacement using those settings.

What do you run your 445PRO at?

I had a 445xpro monitor was awsome till I made the very stupid mistake of setting it on the subwoofer and turning up the stereo, now its my little sisters, and a little blurry in the middle(not really that bad though, but was crystal clear before that
