Ack! My license is suspended!

Tried to get my Colorado license. They said I have a hold on my license in California. So I call CA's DMV and am told that I have a failure to pay from 1998 of $1063. WTF?

How long does that stuff stay out there? And more importantly, how am I going to come up with a grand?

Probably, though I honestly don't remember having a $1000 ticket ever.

The only time I was ticketed in that county was when the cop stopped me for doing 115mph in my old GTI. He wrote the ticket for doing 85 in a 70. But I could have sworn I paid that.

Of course, 7 years later I have no record of doing so, so I'm hosed.

i got a parking ticket in 1986 that i didn't know about (brother had the car).... went to England for 8yrs. ... went to Nashville for 5yrs came back to NJ in 2000 ... still didn't know.. found out in 2001, tried to fight it and finally decided to give up and just pay it in 2003.

cost of a parking ticket in 1986 was $6.00
cost of suspension, restoration, surcharges and interest.... $1,326.00

there is a statue of limitation for just about EVERYthing in this country .... except murder and the DMV!

Do they still write him? I was getting letters at least once a quarter from the sheriff for years. They finally stopped when Bloomberg took over.
