My father recently found a job after being laid off early this year. His starting salary is 2/3 of my salary. That's not right. :|

He's an architect whereas I have a stupid paper shuffling job. I'm very happy that he found a job, but the salary issue bothers me . . . I guess I'm overpaid.

Hmm... to tell that to the picketters still holding signs in front of Albertsons and Vons.

I don't. My pops makes about twice as much as I do and he gets overtime on top of that. Better benefits and more vacation time, too...

Man, my life sucks it!!

I don't expect to ever make as much as either of my parents. I guess the skoorb family name of societal progression ends with my brothers and I. oh well!

No way. I think my parents have a secret stash--They just bought a new Highlander with cash! It's just that I think my father should be paid more for his skills and experience. And no, I am not going to ask my employer to cut my salary :p

Don't want to hear that you make good money unless you're gonna share!

With that said, i make ZERO while my folks make all. I hate working for family.!

I've made more money than my mother and father for years. Not really a big deal.

Consider yourself lucky. The rest of us were supposed to do better than our parents, as they did before us. Most of us won't.

I make more than my dad does at this time but his Navy retirement puts him over the top. He makes about 30% more than I do with his retirement and current salary combined. He's doing all right.

I make more than everyone in my family except my uncle who works for some aerospace company, or my aunt's new husband who's a 4-star restaurant manager.

Considering I didn't even graduate from high school, I think I'm doing pretty good! :D

Its weird its the same for me. I actually got a job at my dad's company. He is a machinist while im up at corporate. I was actually thinking about not taking the job, but my Dad convinced me. And now I get nothing but crap from him about (jokingly of course).

Growing up, I always figured that I would make more money than my parents but it hasn't exactly turned out that way even though I went to school. My pops has had the same job for more than 30 years now and is going to retire at any time and he'll still make a lot more than me. My mom is a chef and makes way more than me. I've been at the same cubicle for three years now and I can't really complain: I think I get paid rather well for what I do and I'm on Anandtech so how bad can it really be? I just kinda sorta figured on being a step up on my folks and my children would be a little bit better off than me, like stepping up a ladder. Oh, well, I'm still young and there is plenty of time left for me.

Cheers!

I've gotten over it. The only thing that's changed is that, instead of my mother telling me to come home for her birthday, she tells me to come home AND tells me what to buy her.
