Ack! I left my gas cap at the gas station on top of the pumps!

Heh I left mine on my trunk and forgot to put it back when I was done. I didn't realize it until I went home, so I had to go back to the gas station. Someone actually ran over it, but it still works.

I'm going back today after work to see if they might still have it. Is it bad to go without a gas cap for a day or two? It's rainy and crappy here, and I don't want any moisture to get in the tank.

Note: My gas thingy has a cover flap over it.

Cool!

Does it come with a free NOS system too? ;)

Yeah, I hate it when that happens. Luckily, it only costs 7 bucks or so to replace.

Make sure and ask the station if you don't see it, most pick them up and toss them in a box under the counter.

Go back and tell them you forgot your gascap, they usually have a box of them that you can dig through. Choose one you like.

that's what I love about Oregon, we don't forget our gas caps because we don't pump our own gas (yes, we're lazy mofos!)

That's crazy! What, next you'll be telling us that you don't pay sales tax either or something?

I forgot to put the gas cap on my 98 S10 and it caused the check engine light to come on. I was told it has something to do with sealing the fuel system and the emissions. Anyway, I bought a new gas cap for $8.00 at an autoparts store and the check engine light went out.

Oh, I almost forgot. I took it to a Goodyear service center to have the oil changed and asked them about the check engine light and to replace the gas cap for me. They told me that a new gas cap would cost me $27.00 and it would cost $40.00 to reset the computer in my truck so that the check engine light would go off. I figured that was BS and like I said, I bought an $8.00 cap at an autoparts store and the light went out on its own after the system was sealed.

I used to pump gas in my younger days, and yes, we did save caps, so go back before you buy a new one. Funny, one time this lady came in in an Acura, I fill her up and she leaves. Comes back like an hour later telling me I put the wrong gas cap on her car and she's afraid it's gonna damage the engine, because the cap says Honda Motor Co. on it. Took me like a half an hour to explain to her that Honda and Acura are the same company (and besides gas caps don't have anything to do with engines.)
