So last night, I noticed the front fan in my Sonata II was not spinning and my hard drives were running really hot (IDE Seagate 7200rpm @ 53 degrees and WD Raptor 10k rpm at 43 degrees).
So I realized the black and yellow pins were switched on the power wire for the fan (I recently sleeved all my cables). So I fixed this and my fan works now.
However, now when I start up, the computer posts but gives error:
Failure to load OS.
The OS is on the Raptor (SATA of course, the other HD is storage on IDE set as slave, its the only thing on the IDE cable).
Do you think the hard drive failed because it go so hot? I tried adding to my friends computer and windows automatically ran a disk check, but couldnt fix the errors it found because "not enough disk space."
What doyou guys thing? RMA time? The Raptor is probably 2 weeks old.....Could this be another problem?
This will be my first RMA with the egg is so 🙁
On a side note, the hard drive makes some clicky noises you can only hear when your ear is up to the drive. Are the clicky noises of death usually louder than this?
edit:
Did windows repair - used dskchk and fixboot, it now works fine (still on good old fashion 4-pin molex). Im looking for some disk checking utilities to use to make sure its ok now, any suggestions?
