Well I bought a Yamaha CRW8824EZ today...supposedly an 8x8x24...

I have a CDRW I made in my old roommates drive, it needs an update, so i went to try it, and I can't set to write a 8x..only 2x and 4x.

I put in a plain CDR, and i can choose 1,2,4,6 or 8x...
But with the CDRW only 2x and 4x...

any ideas?

Hmm nevermind...I tried the CDRW that came with the drive, and I can select 2x, 4x or 8x on it...the jewel case for the disc I'm using says 1x,2x or 4x only.

How does the drive know that the CDRW can't support 8x writing? I didn't know 😛

Yeah, you can't burn faster than what the media's rated for with CDRW's... That sucks because there isn't alot of 8x and 10X CDRW media in stores.
