ACHI versus RAID

Can someone with a solid understanding of ACHI and RAID take a minute and offer some insight on the defining difference(s) and what is/are the advantage(s), if any, of ACHI versus using RAID?

Based on my understanding, functionally they are the same (running under RAID implies you are running your drives via AHCI, but not the other way around), except RAID allows you to set up disk arrays too.
