Good Day;

Just wondering if someone can explain, Displayport 1.2 can run 4K @ 60Hz then how can ACER X34 run 4K @100Hz with displayport?

Regards;

Taken from TFT Central...

One of the most interesting features of the X34 is the overclockable refresh rate. The panel itself is designed to run at 60Hz by LG.Display and that's the native refresh rate you will be able to select in Windows when you first connect the screen. However, there is a specific feature available in the OSD menu in the 'setting' section for "over clock". This allows you to enable the higher refresh rate support.

But can the display port transmit 4K @ 100Hz, because this seems like the TVs that have 120hz but have ports that only support 60hz.

No. The x34 display can only go up to 3440x1440, which is not 4K. It's an ultrawide though, and not a 16:9 display.

I believe DP 1.2 can support up to 110mhz with a good cable.
