So I have a fairly large CRT monitor, that I don't mind all that much. LCD seems so nice whenever I use a computer with a decent LCD monitor though, and so I feel like I should ditch the ones I'm using.

Best Buy has the 19" Acer lcd from the P Series for $100 on black friday. Would that be a good pick?

Also, just as an aside, why should I use lcd?

Ah, I see you're from India. Yeah, whenever I visited and checked out a computer store the prices were always absolutely ridiculous. It's too bad Newegg won't ship internationally.

Thanks for the comments

Any other advice? I think if I do decide that it's worth it for an lcd (Is it worth it to get an LCD?) then I'll buy that one.

Yesss....it is totally worth switching to a good LCD monitor. I used to play my games and watch movies before on my other Samsung Syncmaster 17" monitor and was well amazed by the sheer clarity and brightness of the LCD monitor. I'm not too technically aware about the LCD technology but I can tell you that I now play my games and watch all my movies on my LCD screen! So, I would say it'll be a great investment in buying a good LCD Monitor. :)

@prices in India:

Well yeah, prices are high here but most of the things are available along with the newest graphic cards and all. But what we don't have (atleast where I buy my hardware from) are the fancy water-cooling stuff and. Cooler Master fans and cabinets are expensive as well. I recently bought a CM Centurion Cabinet for around $100. I have plans now of buying a 8800GT (around $205 here) and a CM PSU. I wonder if Newegg will start shipping here. :confused:

O_O

$205 for an 8800GT? That's insane!!!!!!!! I only paid $34 for 9600GSO! Granted, that was quite the deal, but here an 8800GT should cost around $100.

Maybe try eBay? Some sellers may ship internationally. Or I'm sure SOMEONE from here would buy it for you and ship it to you at a small cost.

I bought a GeForce 9500GT for around $100 last week. I guess I'll be saving up now from my salary for the 8800GT in a couple of months. There is some good news though, hardware prices might just dip early next year....looking forward to it! :)

Btw...have you decided on getting that LCD monitor? I found a small article about LCD's (after a quick search on Google), you can give it a read:
