Acer laptop, with Optane 16GB + 256GB SSD. Marketing, or worthwhile?

Is this just a marketing stunt, like putting a Radeon RX 530 (OEM) dGPU chip, into a laptop with Raven Ridge / Vega graphics? Just because the specs look better on the box?

Is that what we have here, or is there actually some sort of tangible benefit, to running a 16GB NVMe Optane, in front of a (presumably SATA) SSD?

Versus, just equipping it with a 256GB NVMe SSD in the first place, and foregoing the Optane angle?

I would use 16GB Optane + 256GB SATA SSD over 256GB 3D TLC NVMe SSD.....but I do wish Intel would add the option of "write through" (rather than limiting to "write back") for the caching scheme when using such a combination.
