Acer laptop freezes when run off the battery

Acer laptop freezes when run off the battery, the screen freezes I can still shut it off with the power botton, but the screen freezes all one color.

Anyone know why this is happening?

that's good you know this only happens when running off the battery

I'd probably find out what is different about running it off the battery than plugged to further troubleshoot the problem.
 
Just call Acer and give them the serial number, they can tell you if it is under warranty. If possible, see if you can get another battery that would work on your computer and try it with that one to see if that is the issue.
