http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...coming-out-for-449-on-april-24-pre-order-now/

1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor
1GB RAM
10.1 inch, 1280×800 screen
2MP front camera and 5MP rear camera
16GB built-in storage (a 32GB model is in the works)
SD Card slot that supports up to 32GB
Stock, vanilla Android 3.0

Nearly the same specs as the Xoom, but with a much more attractive price. If you're looking for a 10in device. Hopefully, this will drive pricing down on the 7in tablets I'm more interested in.

It doesn't mention what technology is used on the screen. One of the things that makes the Xoom and iPad and Nook look so good is how bright and colorful the screen is. An IPS screen is worth a fair bit more to me than a TN... if they cut costs by cutting quality, I know I'll personally be a lot less interested.

Out of curiosity, why is it that the Xoom's display looks worse at off-angles compared to the iPad when they're both IPS displays? I actually thought the Xoom wasn't even using an IPS display because of that .

Yeah, I think Xoom isn't IPS. Tab and Nook are IPS, as is the Transformer.

Also, weights:
Transformer - 1.5lbs
Iconia - 1.69lbs
Xoom - 1.74lbs

iPad2 (9.7") - 1.33lbs
Galaxy Tab 10.1 - 1.31lbs
Galaxy Tab 8.9 - 1.04lbs

If the Transformer price and imminent availability hold, I'm not sure why anyone would buy the Acer or Moto.

I've seen the Iconia listed as 700g so that's pretty close to the Transformer's 680g.

But yeah, the panel doesn't sound that impressive.

http://tabletpcobservations.com/tablet-pc-observations/acer-iconia-tab-a500-is-announced.html

And apparently the Xoom uses at least two different panels.

https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/48269?start=15&tstart=0

The iSuppli teardown says that one of the panels is an AUOptronics B101EW04 V.0.

This guy think it's a VA panel.

Hopefully, the U.S. pricing for the A100 will also be announced soon... and maybe there will be an early review...

I was looking at the comments on the Engadget article of this and it seems it isn't an IPS screen so the screen is going to suck.

If it's the same OS as the Xoom, does that mean it will have the same issues?

One of my co-workers has a Xoom and he said that there was a new patch - I think he said it was 3.0.1 - and he said things have been much better since the patch. He said it's not perfect, but much more stable than before.

As far as the Xoom not having IPS, I didn't know. I still haven't personally seen one. I should ask my co-worker to bring it in... Our local Best Buy didn't have them on display - I went by last night and I couldn't find them... although now I regret that I didn't ask.

Still, I don't think I'd buy a tablet without an IPS-level screen. With an iPad, I can get my wife and two kids and all of us sitting on a bed watching a movie in a hotel room and everyone can see and hear the movie and it looks good. I don't think I'd want a less bright/colorful screen with a small viewing angle.

Interesting. The wife is clucking for an iPad2, but there's no employee pricing for a couple of months and it burns our ass a little to pay sticker...

The A100 looks much more interesting to me. I'm looking more at the 7-8.9in sizes for their portability.

Same here... I am > < this close to getting a Tab, after the recent price drop, but I'm just waiting for the A100....

TN kills both Acers I think. The A100 has a nice shape though.

I love most Acer products but if the XOOM is any indication its tough to get a Honeycomb tablet done correctly for a reasonable price.
Best of luck to them.

I wonder how the acer will compare asus tablet. I think it is suppose to be in the 450 range. Then there will be the galaxy 10 inch pad in 2 months. I wish there was a comparison of the three
