Acer have done it again!

i was lookin at the Travel Mate 8204 WLMi laptop and thought man thats the one i want

but two things held me back.... 1 it only had core duo, and its 15.4inch screen wasnt of the glossy type


it appears that the TravelMate 8210 is the replacement, and it has indeed been updated with core 2 duo and even option for a Blu-ray drive, smart! but again theres no mention what so ever of acers glossy screen coating (crystal bright) this is a high end laptop, why have they left that one feature off the list?

i know some dont like the glossy displays, but its not even an option! for that price i would at least like the option of paying a little more for the glossy screen

I got an 8204 a couple of months ago. While the screen is nothing spectacular, it is more than adequate and makes up for it in power. It also had the best GPU I could find in a 15.4" laptop at the time.

I wouldn't let the glossy screen stop you.

Glossy screens are a pain in the butt. Unusable outside on most days.

do they sell Acer from retail stores in the US? possibly going to california soon so id pick one up there

The lower end ones are sold in stores, but I don't know if you'd find a TM8210 in a place like CC or BB. You'd need to order a machine like that off the internet.

I was also interested in the 8204, but knowing Merom was coming out I held off. Once I saw how much more the 8216, I decided to wait until the price drops significantly. However, I'm glad it doesn't have a glossy screen.

Here's a local store that sells the 8216. I've called around and also got quotes for the 8216, so I'm sure it exists. Actually, I can't really find the difference between the 8216 and the 8210 and Acer doesn't seem to list the 8216 on their website.

maybe its just a different number because its got the BR drive? or its canadian ? i dunno lol

preferably id want something that can be store bought which means just seeing whats there.... though i am picking up more interest in apple every day. i just hope they get core 2 duo in their macbooks

i should be able to buy a top of the range MBP from an apple store right? (which im sure theyve got in california)
