I have an Acer 12x8x32 CD-RW that I bought sometime last year. It has always been pretty finicky, working only 50% of the time, but I always blamed the software, Adaptec Easty CD Creator 4, for most of the problems. But I installed Nero 5.5 today, and set about burning a slew of CDs. I worked my way through my remaining Memorex CD-Rs, but when I started on my brand new 100-spindle of high quality TDK CD-Rs, I keep getting a "Power Calibration" error. Now I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that power calibration sector of a CD-R was a small portion where the CD Burner tested its laser and adjusted its strength according to the medium in the drive. So, apparently, if this is not functioning properly, it must be the medium.
So, seeing as how I am recieving a medium-specific error, and it only happens with a certain brand of medium, I was wondering if there is any way I can get both to coexist peacefully. I just bought this spindle today, and dont feel like buying a new burner just yet, so I would be very happy if I could get them to work. Any ideas? Corrections? Anything? thanx
