I flashed my Acer CD-RW 4432A ( 2MB Buffer ) 3.FS to 3.LS and i want to go
back to original 3.FS but i can't find the 3.FS firmware. I found
3.cs,ds,hs,is but no 3.fs. But there is also another problem, i can't
downgrade to any of those because the flash program says that this ( 3.LS )
firmware can not be upgraded. I guess the flash program reads the current
firmware version and if the current version is higher than the version you
want to flash it with it doesn't let you flash it.
If i run the flash program with /? i get the following:
CDRW Firmware Upgrade program (V5.0)
Usage: 3DS.EXE [port_id] [filename]
port_id => 0, primary master.
1, primary slave.
2, secondary master.
3, secondary slave.
filename => firmware binary file.
So i think that maybe if i had a .bin file and some other firmware flasher i
could flash the firmware to any version i wanted. But i don't know of a way
to extract a .bin file from 3ds.exe or any other .exe file. Can somebody
help me out?
The reason i want to go back to 3.FS is because with 3.FS i could enable
digital CD audio and with 3.LS this doesn't work any more ( i can't even
play an audio CD, read data on CD or anything with digital CD audio
enabled!!! ). And i need digital CD audio because my sound card only has
analoge CD connector but it has digital optical out which i use for
recording minidiscs ( so i get digital CD audio to soundcard and digital
sound to minidisc recorder ).
TIA,
Borut.
P.S. I tried modifying the 3.cs file. In hex editor i searched for 3.CS and changed it to 3.MS ( it seems that you can only upgrade firmware and not downgrade ). Now the flash program says " downloading the firmware ok" but then stops with firmware check sum error. Anyone know how to bypass that problem?
Please reply to my email too if possible.
