Acer brand laptops. Are they reliable?

I found brand new Acer laptops for sale- Acer Notebook PC 3002 LCi for 499 with AMD mobile Sempron 2800 + processor for $499. Are is this a good brand (reliability wise)?
I know one bad thing about them - their come with battery too week - 1.5 hour max. Some people said after 1 hour use they get discharged!!

Acer notebooks are great.. The more expensive ones are better.

theyre not bad

a friend of mine had a bit of headache with his though, payed £1500 ish for it, and the HDD kept screwing up

Can anyone recommend good external battery to use with laptop?
What is the difference between 4, 8, 9 cell internal batteries?

Acer OEMs for quite a few other labels too. Used to be the main OEM for TI and absorbed the line when TI went out of the lappy biz.
