Acer Aspire X3600 Question!

Hi! I just bought a new Acer Aspire X3600 PC. I hooked everything up and fired up the rig and it's working good. But, there is a piece of equipment that came with the PC that I don't know the use for. This might be a stupid question but it would be great if someone could let me know what the thing is actually and what is it's use?

Here is a picture of the equipment:

Details:
The thing has a wire with a USB port and there are 2 ports for jacks on it's side marked IR1 and IR2 respectively.

It's an infrared USB receiver for things like wireless mice and keyboards.

A peripheral (mouse/keyboard, etc.) sends an infrared signal to the device which transfer the signal to the computer via a USB port.

Viola ...Wirelessness

Thanks for letting me know! 🙂

But they also gave me a USB connector for my wireless mouse and keyboard then what's the point of the infrared USB receiver? Btw, the Aspire series looks pretty good. The specs are quite nice:

Intel Core 2 Duo (2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT (256MB DDR II VRAM)
3GB DDR II RAM
320 GB S-ATA HDD
20" LCD Monitor

I wonder if I could upgrade that HD 2400 XT with a better card though?!
