Acer Aspire Notebooks

I just bought that model for my mom a few weeks ago for that exact purpose, $499 at Circuit City BTW.

I have only one complaint so far and that is the battery seems to last only an hour. That doesn?t sound right so I?m going to check with CC to see if that is normal for the laptop or if it?s defective. I guessing it?s normal for a laptop that cost $500.

I believe that is because these models come with a 4-cell battery; 1 hour sounds about right for that.

For general usage it will do fine; the Sempron CPU is plenty peppy with enough RAM. Not the thinnest, lightest, or longest battery life, but you get what you pay for 😉

I also have this laptop. It's pretty light for its size. Aside from the battery my complaint would be that the max external resolution is 1152x864. If you don't plan on hooking up your notebook to another monitor then I guess it won't be that big of a deal to you.
