Ok I apologize in advance for my brashness but I am about to throw this computer through the wall.
Doing an XP downgrade on the afformentioned laptop. I have installed all the drivers except two. One is an unknown usb device which i believe is the webcam. Since the webcam works I am able to ignore that for now.
The second and most annoying is the ITE CIR driver. I have googled solutions all of which seem to not work.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS STUPID THING???? I know its some kind of infrared receiver but for what??? And has anyone had this issue and fixed it?
thanks all

Laptop makers do not support downgrades to XP. They don't have the drivers for the XP support. So your stuck with Vista till Win7 is released. You may or may not be able to track down generic drivers but its likly you'll continue to have problems.

Whatever it is disable it and see what happens. Once its disabled your sure to notice what isn't working anymore.

ITE CIR driver is the infrared receiver that the laptop probably has, should be able to disable it in the bios, or you can do a google search for ITE IT8512E xp driver

So after fighting with this and trying like hell, I never did get this driver to work. Nor was I able to get the Blu Ray player to work. So I reinstalled Vista 64 bit (factory defaults). But the person would like a 32 bit operating system for a karaoke program. So if I install a 32 bit Vista will the drivers work? Or are they all STRICTLY 64 bit? He doesn't want a dual boot setup. And I am cursing the lack of compatibility with 32/64 environments. This is why I run 32 bit XP rather than 64 yet. May Windows 7 fix this. I would love a 64 bit environment as long as I can use it with the programs I use daily.
Didn't have issues with any of the other programs I installed but the guy is adamant about an Ecuadorian Karaoke Program. Anyone know of a good karaoke program that works in a 64 bit environment?
Thanks all.
