Overall, this is a great price for what you get. Picked one up after shopping around, could not find a better deal for a balanced mobile computer with a 14 inch screen.

I got it for the wife and put an SSD in it right away with a fresh install of Windows 8.1. Was easy to take apart for the SSD upgrade.

The HD 4000 can play Diablo 3 with settings turned down at native resolution.

The Metro interface on Windows 8 is a million times more usable with a touchscreen, so good buy for sure! Especially with an i3.

It was surprisingly fun to use, more so than the iPad 2 touch screen.

I think it's because it's a cool-looking interface, like something from Ironman. The one on the iPad is a functional interface - it's designed for easy usability, but it's not very cool to play with

Web browsing in Chrome on the iPad 2 can sometimes be frustrating, as the navigation buttons are small (back, forward buttons) and require a precise touch; same with some of the general touch interaction on it.

Metro seems more touch friendly.

From the product specs: "Typical 1366 x 768 HD resolution."

A lot of the people who are buying really cheap laptops are older people who are not super into technology, so having a lower resolution is good because it makes the icon & text larger by default.

Underwhelming, yes.

At a foot away when using it in the recliner, 1366x768 is not as bad as it seems.

I would prefer a nice 16:10 ratio, but such is the lackluster state of mass market laptop displays.

We are spoiled by high resolution desktop displays.

Looking at Newegg, because they have much better search: a cheap higher res "laptop" is 17.3 inches, how mobile is that???

The cheapest 14 inch 1600 x 900 is $569.99.

If the consumer stops buying the cheap low res laptops and buys more high res models the market will respond and offer more high res models, but who wants to start the trend at $190 more?

We all dislike the 1366 x 768 laptop panel, but it is priced cheaper.

We get what we pay for.
