Hey!

So I've decided to get myself my first laptop, not knowing anything about laptop benchmarking and such I have no idea whatsoever what to get.

But after 2 days of forum/review reading I decided that the acer aspire 5021 seemed to be a good choice for me.

However, I would still like to hear from someone who has one.
What I'm mostly want to know is about the prestanda in games, what kind of framerates are you getting in new/old games?

And overall, is it a nice notebook?

Hope someone around here can answer some questions... so.. thanks in advance ^^

This machine looks to be awesome. Turion 64 looks to offer good performance with respectable battery life. The X700 will seriously rock in games.
I believe the chassis should be the same acer the Acer 8100 series. You can check out our review on the Acer 8103 here. Overall Acer makes some great machines and the 502x series looks to be awesome for the money.

I don't think you'll get an answer any time soon, because unfortunately, it's not even out yet :'(

It's not? Maybe not everywhere but I sure hope it's out back home in sweden, cause it's displayed in the webshop I'm about to order stuff from :>

Here's the URL: http://www.dustin.se/dacsaportal/?ProdID=5010082008

And thanks for the reply fbrdphreak, I've read a few reviews on a swedish forum and I've heard stuff like 4,9k pts in 3d mark 03.
I dunno whether that's good or bad, but I assume it's not completely crap :>

Yes, there a couple of Turion books and Intel books with x700 out - at least in Europe.

I suggest u take a look at the Aspire 5024 http://geizhals.at/eu/a147869.html
Acer Extensa 4101WLMi http://geizhals.at/eu/a146678.html
Acer Aspire 1691WLMi giyf :)

they all have similar specs like 512mb memory, dothan or turion, x700. And all around 1100 Euros.

If u have 1400 Euros u could go for an FSC Amilo M 3438, Pentium-M 740 1.70GHz, Geforce Go6800. http://geizhals.at/eu/a147501.html
This should be a good deal if u want to play latest games in future, becuz the X700 is a good card but after all it equals more a desktop 9800pro. And this wont be enough for high detailed graphics and fps.

And...these books do certainly have strong power. Regarding quality, keyboard, heat and errors of any kind they will be a lil more problematic than more expensive notebooks, but u cant have it all for that price.

Ah, well from what I've heard so far the 5021 isnt a bad choice and I'm getting it + a softcase and adapter for about 1100 USD / 900 EUR by buying it while the company is on the loose upgrading their stuff :p

And the amilo computer looks nice but I've only heard bad things about the fujitsi computers :<
Anyway, I'm just gonna use this computer until xmas and after that it'll mainly be used for lan-parties (playing quake1 :p) or as a secondary computer running IMs and IRC...... so this wont be a desktop replacement or anything :>

I'll go read more swedish reviews and drool :p
