I am looking for a 24 inch gaming monitor like the Acer AL2416Wd and looking for:

1) Need fast response time for games of at least under 8ms
2) Widescreen because I use the monitor for spreadsheets
3) Does anyone know if the Acer has HDCP and if it matters
4) What is the best alternative monitor that fits all these criteria

Checking Acer's website and a few of the first review oriented links from Google, it doesn't appear that this monitor supports HDCP (I didn't find a mention of it anywhere).

It seems to have gotten pretty favorable reviews overall, but none of them were really in depth. Most say it offers nice image quality (although they don't go into detail about it), but is pretty sparse as far as features go, and its not the most aesthetically pleasing design.

Looks to be selling for about $750-800 online, which isn't bad at all for a screen this size. I'm not sure how old it is though, so there could possibly be an updated version on the way sometime soon, or maybe not.

Its most direct alternative would likely be the Dell 2405FPW. You can fairly easily get it for around the same price or even less, and it has more features (more adjustable, component in, mutli-card reader), and I prefer the look of it to the Acer. Its considerably more popular than the Acer, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything since the Dell has gotten a ton of buzz.

Personally, I think I would keep looking. These days there is a lot of competition in the 23-24" range, much, much more than when it was basically Apple, Sony, and Dell.

I would try to do some more research (and see what others have to say) before choosing. I'm getting sick of saying it, but it might be worthwhile to wait and see how the 2407FPW turns out. Also, I believe there was a new Philips 23" that was getting some buzz, although I haven't heard anymore on it.

Thanks for the quick reply. The issue I have with the Dell is the higher reported response rate of their 24 inch monitor.

I play games a fair amount and I really dont want to spend $700 and get ghosting.
