We use these at work and they are nice monitors. To bad it's not 1920x1200 or I'd bite on it.

I paid around $300 for my AL2216W from Microcenter. I'm fairly happy with it. I don't know how this one differs from the one I have, but if it is similar, then it is a good value.

Anandtech review of AL2216W

$241 taxed/shipped here in VA AC $30

don't believe a 1920x1200 22" panel exists yet.. They are all TN 6-bits right now.

Yeah, I'm still holding on to my 19-inch CRT waiting for 1920x1200 in a 22-inch. I think I read that all of the 22-inch panels are coming from the same factory, so I was pretty sure that my search the other night was going to be pointless... and it was.

That'll get you dirty looks at an internet cafe or arrested if you do it at the corporate office. I suggest only doing that in the privacy of your own home, and I doubt they'll send you coupons for doing so.

can you get one on flea bay for .99?

Not a $50 off $200. Some are closing at $15, but $30 coupons are pretty cheap. Considering the cost of the $50's, you'd be safe to just go with a $30.

How's this compare with the 22" Samsung they carry? They have it listed at $350, but w/ OfficeMax's $250 sale on 3/16-3/17, you should be able to PM and use the coupon. I tried this at my Staples but the lady said they don't PM to OfficeMax because the closest OfficeMax here is 20 miles away in another city....

I got mine and decided to keep it.

Pros:
- Good uniformity across the screen, no serious backlight issues
- Has HDCP

Cons:
- Colors definitely looks a bit different compared to my previous 8-bit Hyundai LCD
- The stand does not adjust at all.

As other reviews have said "you can overlook the imperctions because of the low price" I have the monitor and I would give it a 7.5 on a scale of 1 to 10

I received this LCD yesterday. Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase. Went from using a 19" flat CRT @ 1024x768 so this is a big change.

PRO: - The screen is huge for the price
- Much sharper than my old CRT
- Light bleed issue is overblown - exists but really minor
- Viewing angle issue is overblown
- All needed cables included
- Zero bad pixels or screen defects
- DVD widescreen video looked very good

CON: - Printed manual close to useless
- Buttons are hard to see and poorly labeled
- Stand barely strong enough to support monitor
- Manual shows an adjustable stand (not what you get)
- Brightness set at 100% by default - I set it to zero and was just about right.

I thought the unit was DOA but it turned out there are two power buttons; one is a toggle right next to the power plug - the other is a tiny push button hidden under the bottom front edge.

This Acer is no frills but a great value. Minor problems but pros far outweigh the cons.

Where do you get the coupon? This is one of the models I'm really interested in getting to replace my 19'' Viewsonic CRT monitor thats about a decade old.

How does this compare to this KDS 22'' monitor?

for one thing Acer is a full 3yr warranty, but KDS is a bunch of limited stipulation warranty junk- basically the LCD panel itself is only 1yr and in the 3rd year you even have to pay the labor AND the return shipping- lol..
KDS Warranty Period: This Limited Manufacturer's Warranty covers your product against defects in materials or workmanship from the purchaser's original date of purchase for a period of three (3) years. The cost to ship your product to and from an Authorized Service Center is detailed specifically per year of coverage and is bound by the Exclusions referenced in Section 4 and below:
First year warranty includes all parts and labor. The consumer will be responsible for the cost of shipping the product to an Authorized Service Center and Manufacturer will return shipment.
Second year warranty covers parts only and excludes the LCD/backlight. Consumer will be responsible for the replacement of the LCD/backlight if necessary, labor charges and the cost to ship the unit to and from an Authorized Service Center.
Third year warranty covers parts only and excludes the LCD/backlight. Consumer will be responsible for the replacement of the LCD/backlight if necessary, labor charges and the cost to ship the unit to and from an Authorized Service Center.

blah
so for true 3yr stick to Acer and Benq, and I believe Samsung too...
