Acer AL2216WBD vs BenQ FP222W

Which one is the better buy?

BenQ currently at $260 at several vendors
Acer currently at $285ish at several vendors

The Acer is the lowest ranked for "recommended" in the LCD buyer's guide. As for the BenQ, I was unable to find a solid review for.

I admit I'm just trying to go budget, but the majority of the time spent on this monitor will be reading text/coding and maybe watching some movies with some limited gaming.

thanks.

I've been having a dilema between choosing this acer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824009094

and this CHIMEI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824252008

Thanks for the reply.

From my understanding the BenQ model you posted and the one that I posted are pretty much exactly the same except that the latter has HDMI support. However, I was not aware that it only had a 30,000hr lamp life, how do others compare?

btw, that CHIMEI is looking hot for the price.

We use the BenQ FP91G+ 19" LCD's at the access centre. They are OK as a budget monitor I guess, though they start out ***way*** too bright when brand new, settle down after about a month, but black levels in text certainly isn't anything special.

Not sure if it helps - I got the AL2223Wd a couple weeks ago and I love it. I'm not sure if there is a huge difference between the one I have and the AL2216WBD like you mention. DVI ports, the color (black not silver) and the contrast ratio I guess.

I love my Acer, and for the money it has to be one of the best you can get. I use mine for similar things... Coding/A bit of web design - no movies tho. I do have mine hooked up to my Xbox 360 via a VGA adapter and play Gears of War on it. It looks pretty damn good. Awesome deal if you are on a budget.

Edit: I will mention that there is some moderate backlight bleeding around the top and the bottom. However, it is pretty even and the only time I have noticed is if I have a black screen, for example, while a game is loading. It bothers some people - see the New Egg reviews - and it doesn't bother others - ie: there wasn't any mention of it in the Amazon reviews when I bought it.

thanks guys, any input helps, so far the Acer seems to have a little more backing over the BenQ.
