I have an Acer 5920G and it seems that it will not boot anymore. When the computer is turned on, the screen remains black (doesn't turn on at all) and I cannot hear anything spinning. The weird thing is that when I turn it on, it'll stay on for about 3 seconds and then restart, where it will continuously stay on. There is no faint image in the back, so it is not the backlight or invertor.

Yesterday, I disconnected the 8600M GT and powered the laptop up and got a gray screen. I'm coming to the conclusion that it's my video card but I want some of your guys' input first. I was also wondering, any kind people here want to test out my card to see if it's the culprit?

i think its the system ram, the same thing happened to me with my 5920, i could turn it on and the lights all went on but i didnt get a signal. it turned out that one of the ram sticks died, try taking out one ram module at a time and trying to boot with each ram module by itself.

Thanks for the response. I tried swapping the memory already with ones from my current laptop and still no cigar.

thing not to do when you have a warranted laptop: fix it yourself.

I actually purchased the laptop in the condition that it is currently in with the intentions of fixing it. However, upon taking it apart, it seems that the previous owner made an attempt to fix the problem as well, which is probably why he sold it to me for so cheap. Oh well, if worse comes to worst, I'll just part it out.
