I have the acer aspire 5570Z laptop.
It comes with the seagate momentus 5400.3 80GB hdd.
I bought a seagate momentus 5400.4 250GB hdd to upgrade.
After installation, when i tried to install vista, the installation itself succeeded but i got random crashes (blue screen) after that. after some time, vista won't even boot even in safe mode (stops at crcchk.sys or something - not exactly sure on the file name).
i tried installing again and vista can't even format the drive now, it just hangs - this is one of the first steps in the installation, just after entering product key.
i also tried loading with the jumper settings set at SATA 150, still no improvement.
i have an external sata enclosure and the drive seems to work fine there. my old 80 GB hdd that came with the system still works fine with the laptop.
any ideas on what could be wrong or anything else to try. thanks.
