Well, I have an Acer 2300 travelmate with a Celeron M 340 processor (socket 478 I believe).
How safe am I to upgrade to a pentium M processor, preferably the Dothan based? Will my laptop take the advantage of speedstep, or will I need to look for a bios update? As well, do you guys know if they CPU is soldered onto the MoBo?
Thanks for your help.
P.S. I found a service manual for the 4000 series of the travelmate, the person that was hosting it listed it with the 2300 series as well. To me it looked like cpu was removable.
