Acer 22" LCD Died - 2nd Time

My Acer AL2223Wd 22" LCD Monitor, new June 2007, died for the second time. Seems as it is the backlight that failed again. No backlight, no display, DEAD. Acer repaired it in ~2 weeks, door-to-door, last time, but a PITA none the less.

Is this common?

Hmm good question. I use Dell Panels on the grid, so is it your power source causing the issue or is it something else. The world may never know.

My little brother has an Acer 22" that died. The monitor kept turning itself off or something. And then it just stopped turning on at all. It would just stay in it's off mode (the power button glowed like it would in the monitor's off state). Only complaint (other than the monitor dying in the first place) was waiting a month for a replacement.

weird... I've had 2 of those exact models running for over 2 years and still no problems, and I bought one of them used from AT.

Happened once to my Acer 22" and once to my Hyundai 19" 4:3. Life on the bulbs seems iffy.

i think i have that model, mine has been ok, but i use low brightness levels on all my monitors, i think it is easier on the monitors.

Happened to my Dell 1800fp. It wouldn't get out of standby mode. Turned out the power supply failed. Found a repair kit on ebay for $8. Poor solder joints caused an IC to fail. Replaced the IC and resoldered the area of the board in the directions and 30min later my monitor was working again. Been working for a couple more years now (bought it in 04). 🙂
