@ Newegg

$12.98 shipping cools it a bit, but still a good deal on a quality WS LCD

EDIT..If you have, or can get a $30 off $150 Staples coupon it works out to $149.98 + tax w/ free shipping.

it isn't bad ... midrange ... my particular one was perfect .. no backlight bleed or bad pixels ... ok colour and not so bad for the response time ... no noticeable ghosting ... weak in that you have to look pretty much straight on ... not well viewed from any extreme angle but it is bright enough for a moderately lit room ... text is sharp and clear

MSRP i think is $200

i bought one after comparing a few LCDs including 22" [the 22" was better but it wasn't major]

for the *price* it is decent ... and if you are a gamer, 14x9 is reasonable for most modern videocards. ... i went from 12x9 19" flat CRT [18" viewable] to 14x9 19" WS and it is size-comparable ... with a little added 'real estate' at the sides

cautious and qualified

May be a little off topic but .... 16:9 to 4:3 comparison calculations I found it helpfull. Recall, size on a LCD is **supposed to be** the ACTUAL size measured diagonally
text

If use a 17" 4:3, a 21"ws would be about same height, just wider. I cant confirm this since I dont own a ws but that how it looks to me.

well to directly compare, side-by-side ... my 19" Flat CRT [12x9@80hz] - 18" viewable - is nearly identical in height to my 19" ACER WS LCD [14x9@75hz] ... with a little added real estate to each side.

i would not have done it all but my CRT is failing. :(
--but it's an OK "upgrade" and WS is "cool" without the black bars
... modern games DO look better in WS - Fable LC is just Awesome with everything maxed and forced AA/AF. :)
