Acer 1690WLCi NoteBook

Does anybody have any experience with Acer notebooks? Been looking at this one, but I can't seem to find anybody who can tell me if they're any good. Dependable? Solid?

I'm on a tight budget, but I can get that one for $900 (after rebate).

Acer notebooks are not perfect, but they are good. In germany they sell the 1690 with a x600 for about 1050Euros and with a X700 for 1150Euros. So I think 900$ is a good deal, but as i said dont expect them to be perfect regarding built quality and troubles of any kind. Plus the 1690 models dont have glossy screens afaik. Batterylife should be about 4hrs.
Check out prices for Acer TravelMate 4502LMi with a Radeon 9700 too.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not really expecting it to be a Vaio (although.....), but by the same token I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to fall apart in my hands right out of the box. Acer's been around for awhile, but nobody seems to have a whole lot of experience with their laptops. Even Epinions.com has no feedback on this particular model, and only has feedback on 3 others (which I'm not particularly interested in). This deal won't go on for much longer, I had questions for Acer but they're not open for business today, and probably won't be again until this deal's over with (holiday on Monday). It has an 80gb hard drive in it but I can't find any specifications that will tell me whether it is a 4200 or 5400rpm hard drive. I suppose I should assume it's a 4200 which is pretty sad, but pretty much par for the course I guess... 🙁
