There's already an Acer 10x/4x/32x thread.

My roomate bought two of these for $80 after rebate I think, he waited in line for nearly an hour. The drives look pretty nice.

Be sure to keep copies of all ACER rebates and be prepared to hound them for months to get your rebate. It took me 10 months to get a $30 scanner rebate.

Woah are you serious? 10 months for a rebate? Oh well I would have prob given up by then and actually been enthused when it arrives.

But yeah general rule of thumb is to 1) Copy EVERYTHING (rebate form, UPC, receipt) and 2) Mail everything certified with return receipt.

Dogcatcher - You may want to ask about CloneCD compatibility in this Acer thread which has 13 posts located in the Hardware forum.

My roomate bought two and they look pretty nice. $80 after rebate is a SMOKIN' hot deal ...

Thanks Ross, I'll try that. Has your roomate tried CloneCd with them yet. I have a 8X Plextor now but thought I would throw the Acer in another machine. I just didn't want to open it and didn't really have the time to try it out myself.

I picked up one of these from someone on anandtech.
Havnt gotten it yet, never went to the store.
That was a good deal for a 10x burner.
How does it perform? Does it burn PSX good?
Its not a plextor obviously, but then again you didnt pay the $250 for it.
