there may not be an easy way to test lag at this res. as mentioned in the [H] thread, the test should be done at lcd native res with crt clone. you would need a crt capable of 1920x1080 at 120 hz. not sure if there were that many of those around back in the day, much less available for testing now.

That review is inaccurate. Do you really think Acer would release a monitor designed for gaming with such high input lag?

digitalvs reviews lots of full hd monitors - it's not like this is the first full hd monitor they've ever seen - and the acer gets lag worse then many. It's just a fact that it suffers from input lag. There are other monitors coming out that might do better (e.g. LG 2363D, viewsonic V3D241wm-LED).

I think I might wait for the V3D241wm-LED

I have a thing for LED - don't know why
same panel as the Acer though so I guess the input lag will be similar which isnt good(according to digitalversus). the Viewsonic, like most other monitors these days, will use a glossy bezel which I a cant stand.

Well, I'm going to wait and see then find out, if it sucks then I'm totally fine with not getting it.

why not 1920x1200 at that price point?

Can't do 120hz and 19*12 without display port - dual link dvi doesn't have the bandwidth - hence there aren't any 19*12 120hz monitors coming for quite a while.

DP needs to hurry up and become common place. I'd buy a decent 1920x1200 120Hz LCD this second.

how does that make any sense? it clearly shows 50 ms of input lag compared to the crt in the review I linked to. thats actually very high compared to most other TN panels. I mean look at the BenQ monitor right besides it only having 3ms input lag.
.....
well if that review showed 5ms then everybody would be saying its true. it shows 50ms so nobody was to accept that? I am just confused by the review because its shows the input lag as bad but then they go on to say it has record breaking responsiveness. I guess all that means is that the ghosting is very low.

The preview picture for the video does NOT show 50ms of lag, it shows 5.

0.268s - 0.263s = 0.005s or 5ms.

I watched the video and paused it at times, the latency I noticed was between 0 and 16ms.

You are joking right? Its a step down from the u2410
That's definitely an opinion, my friend owns a 1920x1200 IPS monitor, and I cannot stand it compared to my 2233rz. 60hz just feels horrible. Its not only noticeable in games either. One time I installed new video drivers, but didn't restart my computer for a few days so I forgot about it. Upon restart the new drivers set my monitor back to 60hz, and just moving the mouse around I thought I had a virus, took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. In games it takes all of 0 seconds to realize whats happening because its seriously like night and day.

If you need image quality, a TN sucks. But for most gamers I think 120hz is a much better option.

I know 32LH30 used to be a hot monitor until LG started doing panel lottery. Not sure if the same holds for the 32LH40, but if yeah I would stay away.

Now I'm curious what kind of video card do you have and what games do you play (also what is the average fps you get while playing)?
I'm having a hard time imagining 120 Hz making that big a difference especially in the desktop. Then again since we are talking LCDs here so there are many other factors to consider besdies refresh rate. Your monitor may be bad at handling lower refrehses, or your friend's IPS panel could be (mos tlikely is) a lot slower than your TN in terms of response as well.

What do you mean by lottery and you are saying the panel use to get warm after pro-long use?

I think what he means by lottery is that some of the panels they use suck( have some kind of defect ) so it's luck of the draw whether you get a good one. Kind of like with some Dell monitors you coul sometimes get an IPS panel, a VA panel, or a TN since they use different panels from different manufacturers for that particular model.
