Aced the ASVAB

Took the test yesterday and scored a 99 in the AFQT. I believe this is the highest score possible. Did it in 45mins. I scored very well also in the AFOQT (Officer's test). Looking into 1N6X1 - Electronic Systems Security Assessment - I guess this is something like a hacker.

why not try and become an officer?

My GPA isn't high enough (2.7), yet my scores are 2-3x more than the average officer. They want a minimum of 3.0, preferrably 3.2

Well there is no pass/fail for the ASVAB and JROTC doesn't help you prepare for that exam anyway.

Scored a 99th as well after taking the test my Sophmore year in HS. I got calls from recruiters for several years aftewards. One day I got a call from an Airforce recruiter and as a joke gave the phone to my younger brother. He was enlisted a few months later. D'oh! 🙂

Hope you like getting called by recruiters!

Yup I aced it back in '81 had every recruiter calling me constantly for YEARS after the fact.

Took it senior year of hs (2000) and recruiters were calling up until last year sometime. The ironic part is the company I work for is like an extension of the Air Force. Oh well, good to know I'm wanted😛

99% is the norm with anyone that's in top 15% of their class. I assume anyone nerdy enough to hang out on Anandtech would get it.
As for the raw score, GT score is the one you want to look at. 130 is max. However, anything over 127ish is the same i think.
The tests isn't hard enough to differentiate bewteen smarter folks. It's kinda like running a viedo card test at 640x480 with the newest video cards...

After I took it I was told my score meant I could get pretty much any job in whatever branch I chose, as long as nothing prevented me from getting the security clearance required for certain positions.

Some of the shop, electrical, and auto questions were pretty hard...had no idea what a differential or transmission is.

Wow. You did better than I did. I got a 98. 😀

Only reason I didn't join was back problems. Couldn't get past the physicals. 🙁

Yep, let's see those raw scores! Here's mine:

GT: 130 GM: 141 EL: 139 CL: 135 MM: 140 SC: 139 CO: 141 FA: 140 OF: 140 ST: 138

Those aren't the raw scores I'm talking about. Those are Army composite scores. What are the real raw scores. They are on the worksheet you are given after you complete the test. Ask your recruiter if you weren't given the results.

Just talked to the recruiter and he said that AFQT = the average of General and Math. He said that I got 100% in those areas. He needs to go to MEPS to get my score printout.
