Adobe is just trying to make money off of artists. In the art industry, you're evaluated based on your portfolio and certifications mean absolutely jack shit.
Buddy of mine has been using Photoshop since 2.5, had expert certs in photoshop and premier and several other adobe products. He says the only reason to ever get an adobe cert is if the employer says "I'll pay you more if you have this."
It might be a nice stamp for a freelancer, but what really matters is your portfolio - not whether you know the difference between the clone tool and the healing brush.
The ACE shows technical proficiency but says nothing about your aesthetic.
