yes but it still sucks compaired to Thumbs+ 7

This may be true as far as features offered, but Thumbs can't be a default file viewer - correct me if I'm wrong. You have to open the program first to view a pic.

yea you have to open it, but i hardly see that as a drawback

I do. I want a picture to pop up when I click on a file in explorer. And I'm not going to leave Thumbs open as my file manager - it hogs too much memory.

The only advantage I see for Thumbs is that it stores the thumbnails in an archive - ACDSee remakes them everytime I believe.

I use explorer to view single files, I use thumbs to organize and view batches

Went back to 5.0 from 6.0. Way too slow and bloated. I expect 7.0 will be the same way...

6.0 was total crap and hosed some of my files when I uninstalled it.
Irfan is better (even if it is a little light on the features), and it's free,

Irfan doesn't seem to recognize my mpeg files. It keeps giving me errors when it hits one and doesn't go back to displaying jpgs unless I shut it down and restart it.

I don't think it recognizes any video files, but I could be wrong, as I don't use it for video files. When it encounters one on my system, it will squirrel around for a bit, pop up a "Not an Image" (or something like that) box where a thumbnail or full image would normally be seen. However, it does continue to show other jpgs as I cycle through them in thumbnail viewing. It seems to load pictures much faster than other viewers and it's easy to do batch processing/updating of digicam pics, which is a big help when your digicam wants to take dark pictures :disgust: (No more Kodak digicams for Goth).
