If someone is on Accutane, is it possible for them to take Celexa?

The reason I am asking is because I recommended my friend go on Celexa for some developing depression (i was on it at one point...but now I am beyond that medication), but she said she can't take any medication cuz she is on Accutane....to me this sounds a bit weird, but yeah. Is anyone more knowledgeable on this? If Celexa cannot be taken, can anything else be taken?

Thanks in advance

Jesus! Please head over to a legitimate pharmacist before she ends up dying or something from taking both at the same time! You can ask a pharmacist about that without having to pay or anything....

if she's getting depressed she should stop taking the accutane. It's a bad side effect of accutane, and should see her doctor about it

Ok, first, why don't you have her ASK HER DOCTOR.
Two, what makes you think that Celexa will be any better for her depression than Prozac, Wellbutrin, Depakote, Xanax, Zoloft, or a damned sugar pill? Have a doctor determine what she should take. It's literally impossible to say what kind of antidepressant / mood stabilizer medication will work for any given person.

She needs to consult the prescribing doctor immediately. Accutane has been known to cause depression and needs to be dealt with in a serious matter.

My dad was half asleep but he managed to mumble, "Just call any local walgreens or drugstore. They will answer your question over the phone. "

If she developed depression while on accutane, she needs to be taken off of it. If she was already depressed when perscribed accutane, her doctor should be shot...

I would suggest she see a good MD for a thourough checkup, then see a psychiatrist prior to taking the Celexa. I know you're well intentioned, but leave the prescribing to a physician.

Although there don't appear to be any interactions, Accutane:

ISOTRETINOIN (ACCUTANE softgel) and ETHANOL

Drinking ALCOHOL (or taking any product containing alcohol) while taking ISOTRETINOIN may result in flushing, rapid breathing, and rapid heart rate.

Drinking alcohol while being treated with isotretinoin is not recommended. If you are drinking alcohol and being treated with isotretinoin and you are experiencing severe flushing, rapid breathing, or racing or pounding heart beat contact your physician immediately.

I will not be giving her Celexa! I was just wondering if it could go along with Accutane
Two, what makes you think that Celexa will be any better for her depression than Prozac, Wellbutrin, Depakote, Xanax, Zoloft, or a damned sugar pill?
Well, my main reason for Celexa is cuz my doctor said that Celexa has almost no side-effects as apposed to Prozad. Also, through my medicine stage I have been on Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft, Paxil again, Welbutrin, Remeron, Paxil again, Zyprexa, and now Effexor. I recommended Celexa cuz I personally had NO side effects under Celexa

Yes, I told her she should go to her doctor and ask what she should do. I suggested that she mention Celexa, for the reason that it has fewer side-effects (KEY WORD: Suggested). She then came up with the excuse that she is taking Accutane, so I asked here so I can have more grounds to convince her to go on.

As for the depression before Accutane...she was a bit unhappy (cuz she moved and she doesn't like the new place that much), but she wasn't depressed. But yeah.

LOL. I didn't mean you piss you guys off...I was just wondering if Accutane would have a problem with Celexa, cuz it didn't make much sense to me for there to be a complication. And I do not give any of my medications out to people...I always tell them to go to a doctor. But I DO suggest a medication to talk about with the doctor, just based on my experiences with certain medicines

Problem is, many general practicioners will give you a prescription for nearly anything just to get you off their back & out of theri office.

There is no substitute for a good check-up, bloodwork, etc, to make sure say, a female isn't anemic from her period and just run down from a poor diet & not enough iron. (did you know all women of childbearing age should prob be on an iron supplement because of their period & all the tissue & blood loss every month?)
