Accutane is the greatest medication ever...

I'm glad it worked. That's one less person walking around that looks like the goalie for the USA dart team.

I was on two cycles and I'd have to say I disagree. It came back after the first one so I went on a higher dosage the second time and unable to continue it due to side effects went off it.

Glad it's working so far for you though.

Dryness is a noticeable side effect though. To this day, after shaving, my face looks completely whitewashed (I have olive skin) and it's very noticeable unless I apply moistureizer, which is a pain. Still, it beats the alternative by leaps and bounds. Gotta love modern science.

Same happens to me, even after almost 4 years. It worked great though.

with all due respect to your friend (no sarcasm intended), i don't buy that accutance generates suicidal thoughts. one of my close friends' dads took him OFF accutane when he heard that even though my friend was very happy with accutane and saw that he was making progress in getting rid of his terrible acne. instead, once he was taken off, the acne came back in full force and my friend was extremely depressed. then again my friend's dad is an idiot. but it really sucks cuz my friend has a BADDDD case of acne... he gets ENORMOUS purple boils on his nose and whatnot... so tragic. 🙁

and that has to do with my friend... how? all you have said is that your friend is sad is because he has acne. that has no relevance to whether or not accutane was the cause of my friend's suicidal thoughts.

heh, isn't that the one where you can't have dairy and you can't go in direct sun? i hate things like that. i never took it cause of those reasons.. i'm ok now!!

Side effects vary from one person to another. When I researched about it years ago, having suicidal thoughts was among the reported side effects.

Ehh I never heard of those. I had plenty of ice cream when I was on it 🙂
The only thing you can't be is pregnant.

well i had to go thru two cycles(it came back after about a year) , (the first one was free, i was on a study for bone density, got paid, very cool) - and I have to agree. It is the greatest medication ever..whenever i see a girl with bad acne, i'm almost tempted to tell her about it 🙂o - bad acne can ruin a girl's apperance (and a guy's too, I'm sure)

my bad for not finishing my thought... basically i don't buy that there's a correlation between accutane usage and suicidal thoughts. since most of the poeple who use accutane are youngsters/teenagers who are, perhaps, more uncertain and/or insecure about their looks, there's bound to be a sizeable portion of accutane-users who might end up having suicidal tendences. that's why i'm skeptical about any such linkage. but, like i said, i've done no research on this so i wouldn't know if the suicide thing is based on hard science or if it's just some crap cooked up by a rival pharmaceutical company or whatnot.

I would try accutane but my cousin used it i guess and almost killed herself..... Oh well i use something else. I dont mind my acne much. I dont have that much except on lower cheek

Yep. Worked for me also. I was on it for maybe three months, and it completely obliterated my acne. And I had some baaaaad acne too. I took it maybe 14 years ago now (I am 29), and I am still okay! 😉 No side effects, except for the hump on my back.

I did one course about 18 years ago and I got the best overall complexion improvement that I've ever experienced in 20 years of seeing a dermatologist. The dryness was a beeyatch and my lips were constantly cracked, but it was well worth the trouble. My face was as smooth and unblemished as a baby's butt for about the next 3 years. Highly recommended if you can deal with the side effects.

The suicide/depression thing is totally overblown, IMHO. I would guess that the target age group for this drug (post-pubescent teens) has such raging hormonal imbalances in the first place, that some of them are probably blaming the drug for what's really a normal teen angst condition.

amen. preach on, brutha.

Worked great for me...wish I had started earlier. My skin was dry and my arms flaked in the winter like a sunburn for almost 2 years after I stopped tho.
