Accused of Shill Bidding

Hi guys,

Being an innocent party here, a seller of a 3dfx item
Now the forum community is suspecting my auction has shill bids on it

Fact is I am not even in control of who bids, how do I prove I have nothing to do with price manipulation.
What would you do if you were me?
:-(

Just looking at the numbers I could almost believe there is some bullshit going on.
But thats one of those things thats almost impossible to actually prove.
Also, there must be some hardcore nerds who'd pay prices like that for a card thats neat but basically useless.

I always assumed shill biding was done from accounts with no or very little feedback.
And ya, I can't see paying that kind of money for a wall hanger. Not even if I hit the Powerball. The $60 shipping charge kills it for me.

there are lots of things I can see collecting. video cards is not one of them.

do these cards actually go up in value?

Apparently... I could see collecting something like that. It's from the glory days of pc gaming, and if you have the money, why not? It's probably not a huge market, but with a worldwide audience, there's probably enough people to drive up the price.

Only as collectibles.
It not like vintage muscle cars. American cars were gimped in many ways when the laws regarding emissions and safety were enacted, so theres a certain amount of awesome power in an old vehicle.
You dont get that with semiconductors. Old shit is inferior, plain and simple.
Only someone with too much money who likes owning certain antiques would want one. Luckily that was the basis of ebays sales for many years.
Nowadays its mostly direct sale with little to no bidding.

Ditto the GI Joes I intend to sell later this year. They dont make the 80's style plastic with lots of weapons and gear. They went back to the old school soft clothing and generic types. Of course, that makes the original old style worth exponentially more to collectors.

EDIT:
Nevermind. I just checked the Hasbro site. Since the new movie came out they reissued all the 80's style characters as new action figures. Charging triple what the used to of course.
Now that means the old style action figures will be worth much more. Awesomesauce. I am potentially sitting on a gold mine.

I used to sell a lot of 3dfx cards that I had lying around from a distributor. I found out they were worth good money and made like $500 off a bunch of v4 agps and v3 pci's. New in box, unopened were like a few hundred..

From recalling the addresses of my buyers, I would presume they are hardcore techs or old electronics collectors.. the 3dfx name means something to them or their old games.

The one old 3dfx card I can see being worth a fair amount would be the Voodoo5 6000, which only ever existed as a prototype. I think something like a thousand functioning units were ever made and it's a monster of a card, 4 GPUs each with its own fan.
