Wasn't sure if I should put this in software or here, but here goes. I'm starting up a small business, and I'm trying to decide which accounting software to get. Which one is better, Peachtree or Quickbooks? This will be primarily a service based business, but I might sell a few items. So, suggestions? Which is easier to use? Which is best for a small (single owner, single employee) business? Or is there some other software I'm forgetting?

quickbooks is ok, but just get access and make yourself a simple database with an accounts payable, accounts receivable and addresses Tables. your set. all the other stuff is to save yourself a few steps but often just create more steps.

My version of Office doesn't have Access, so I'd have to purchase that, so it might be easier to just buy accounting software. I do know how to use Access (they force you to learn it as an MIS major), but I SUCK at designing good looking forms and reports.

a vote for quickbooks, since I used this accounting package myself and have since moved on to BusinessWorks Gold.

QB is really easy to use, it has a nice GUI setup with flowcharts so you don't miss a step in your cycle. Plus it has a bunch of nice built-in features such as predefined printable invoices that integrate with AP/AR. I personally loved it, until I really started to become more of an accountant and needed audit trails. Watch out though because I heard lately that QB has alot of self-promotion for support so that they can make more money off of you.
