Accidently unplugged my switch now cant access whs from client pc's

Just as the title states I cant access my whs from my client pc's at all after my switch got unplugged. I read somewhere that you need to reset everything because of Ip addresses and host blah blah blah. I am not very good at networking. I tried to restart my router and the pc multi times and still no fix. So can someone help me out. What exactly to I have to do to fix this besides reinstalling whs.

Thanks for all your help
and while looking at the event viewer it shows all applications running without any issues. So its not like a piece of whs isnt starting that is causing this issue.

Computers getting their IP addresses from a router will normally try to keep their last IP address, so pulling the router's plug shouldn't affect things.

If all else fails, run the "Discovery.exe" program in your c: \program files\Windows Home Server folder on each of your desktop PCs. They will find the Windows Home Server and will reconfigure the WHS client connector.

If this doesn't work, then something's up with the Windows Home Server or its network settings. Any chance you set a Static IP address on this server that is now outside of the subnet your router is now using?

If your Router can not do IP reservation within the DHCP range (aka as Static DHCP), then assign to the WHS a static IP that is out of the DHCP range.

😎

I ran that discovery.exe program and that helps fix the issue sometimes till I restart my pc then I get the same issue again. And usually after I run it I still cant access the server or bring up the windows home server console.

I have a linksys. I have an option for dhcp or whatever its called should I turn it on.

Enable DHCP on your router and set all the PCs (including the Windows Home Server) to function as DHCP clients. Turn everything on, give it fifteen minutes, and then use Discovery.exe one more time.

Ok i setup everything like u said. Under basic setup Dhcp it states the 2 pc's are setup.

I tried restarting the pc's again and I tried running the discovery.exe and still nothing. I waited over nite till I tried it so more then enough time went by to try and make it work.

This is enough to drive someone nuts lol

OK. Troubleshooting time.

I suggest running the "IPCONFIG /all" command in a DOS prompt on the WHS server and on one or two client PCs and publishing the results here.

Ok this is from the windows 7 64bit pc. I will get the other one a bit later. I've been sick its tough to climb the stairs.

EDIT: Ok I just tried to access the server's folders and this time it allowed me to. Now in a bout 5 mins it may stop for some reason it keeps going back and forth. So not sure how helpful this info is. Right now I still cant log into the windows home server console from a client pc. I can log on from the main pc though. Very confusing lol

Ok this is from my WHS computer. The other one was from my windows 7 64bit pc.

I hope this info helps.

I tried to do a remote desktop login from my windows 7 onto the whs and everytime I tried to do it. It stated that I couldnt because another remote desktop software was already running. Not sure if this helps at all. I have been able to use remote access in the past with 0 issues.

And it keeps happening where it will allow me to access the server for maybe 3-4 min then it stops and ask me to place the password back in. I try and it states that it is incorrect even though I know it is correct.

I should mention it allows me to do a windows backup though lol Its pretty confusing. It wont allow me to access the folders or the console but it will allow me to run backup
