So I grab the garbage in my room, and throw it into the fireplace. I (thought) I kept it paper only, so I could do just that.

As I'm watching it burn, some papers burn away and uncover these 4 AA batteries that I threw away a while back. :Q I'm like, "Oh fsck" and close the door real quick.

Instead of running for cover and warning my neighbors, I decided to post on ATOT first.

:p

In all seriousness, what should I expect? I haven't heard anything yet. Will my woodstove contain the blasts? ;) lol

prior to that post, no... sorry :( well go try to fish them out if you can, or go put the fire out and fish them out.

I'm not opening the door to my woodstove anytime soon.

That's like going to inspect a dud firework moments after it appears the fuse went out. :p

From Duracell's MSDS.

Caustic potassium hydroxide may be released from leaking or ruptured batteries. Avoid eye or skin contact and inhalation of vapors. Increase ventilation. Clean-up personnel should wear appropriate protective gear.

Batteries may burst and release hazardous decomposition products when exposed to a fire situation.

Sounds bad.

So maybe the batteries will leak and eat through the casing of his wood stove?

Battery acid will spit out and be painful if it gets on you.
Make sure not to let it near eyes for sure.

(Surely everyone's set fire to batteries before...?)
