LOL @ classic Internet Tough Guy comment. You're telling us that if you had a gun, this situation that was resolved peacefully would have ended in cold blooded murder? Hahaha. If the guy really deserved to be taught a lesson, what was wrong with fisticuffs?

Laundry, srs bizness.

The OP and others have repeatedly said they do allocate 5-10 minutes for someone to get their clothes. You actually think people are there ready to rip out someone's clothes the moment the timer goes off?

there are people that have...even if it's to get their 'favorite' machine when another is empty.

At one place there was a person that lived next to the laundry room. They'd listen for the cycles and just come in and throw all the clothes on the tables.

The problem was most of the tables weren't always clean and I don't care for some stranger with unknown hygiene to be touching my clothes.

Once we finally found out about who was doing this we all wrote a letter in to the management. It then stopped.

I hate when people do that to me. I live on a floor with five other apartments. If they can't wait 10 mins for me to get my stuff they can go fuck themselves. I don't want so dirty stranger touching my clean clothes.

Ridiculous.

If you don't want people touching your clothes then make sure you're there before the dryer is done. Otherwise, how is taking out clothing immediately douchy at all? It's not like we're talking about taking out their clothes, soaking them in gas, and lighting them on fire because someone was a few minutes late... we're just talking about taking them out of the dryer and placing them on a table.

If that bugs you, buy your own washing machine or be on time. Otherwise, that's life.

Actually I do feel bad when I have to pull it out of the dryer and their clothes aren't very dry... but thats the way it goes. Shoulda been there, I got my own things to do and they don't involve waiting for you to mosey on down and put more quarters in the dryer.

I don't move people's clothes because there is never a clean place to set them. Laundromats are usually disgusting, even on the counters.

It is annoying when there are no units left and someone left their clothes there for a few hours. Our old apt complex had a sign that said they would just throw it out if left overnight.

It's totally douchy. I set my kitchen timer to go off when the clothes are done. I think it's right to give someone 5 - 10 mins buffer to get there. If you don't know how long it's been there just wait 5 - 10 mins.

To drive the point home...I woke up and went to check the mail...passing the laundry room as I go to the mailbox. The asshole's clothes that I moved are STILLLLLL on the laundry table. He has not come back in from what I can tell, approaching 12 hours. Which one of you is going to wait 12 hours for a washing machine and dryer?

I pissed off the guy in my OP twice. Since I moved his clothes from the washer, naturally my washing load finished while his were in the dryer, because he put them to dry so late. So when I see the dryer finish drying, again I remove his clothes and put them on the table. He comes in to see his clothes again on a table and just glares at me while I'm loading into his dryer. What an ass...

Major LOL. You go, man. I'd have done the same thing.

Having lived in the same scenario and having done the same thing (except I waited like an hr? because it was literally outside my door), I've never seen anyone have a problem with it. The people shouldn't expect to hold other people up for not being back on time. Expect it to be done in 40 mins? Get there in 35.

Just wait 5 minutes.

If you cannot do that, get your own laundry unit.

If you can't because you rent, the boo f'n hoo.

back in my apartment days it was common for the local idiot kids to fuck with peoples laundry anyway, so we generally sat in there and chatted while doing laundry. there were people that bitched about their stuff getting moved and messed with, but they were generally assholes anyway and would have found any number of other things to bitch about anyway. there was a couple "gangsta" punks that moved in for a while that would wait for no one to be in the laundry room and just toss other peoples stuff on the floor so they could use the machines, but it didnt take too long for us to get them... on the right path, as they say.

i'd give it maybe 30 mins tops... if their shit was just sitting in there, i'd totally put it on the table. pretty sure that's one of the reasons those tables are even in there.

there should be rules posted in the laundry room for this type of thing.

I had like 8 years (college + living in apartment) of shared laundry rooms and never had a problem with someone else pulling my clothes out and putting them on another washer or on a table if I some reason forgot to be there on time. On other people I'd usually wait 5 minutes or so from end of cycle to see if they showed up.

When I was a freshman in college I forgot all my laundry in the laundry room. Got down to the laundry room late and found that a girl on my dorm floor had pulled all my clothes from the dryer she wanted to use, folded, and stacked them neatly. Yes, that was love at first sight.

or simply wait for 5 minutes for someone to get their laundry... :roll;

My experience is they are never just 5 minutes late.

But I cant condone fucking with someones laundry either. You are never justified in destroying property when you're inconvenienced. The American entitlement attitude is quite strong in this thread.

To quote Martin Crane "I still think a couple years in the service woulda done you boys a world of good".

So, with the influence of ATOT I have taken out one of my neighbor's laundry (I took out one of their loads after half an hour after the dryer cycle finished, another after an hour) and am now waiting to see if anything happens...

Update #1: 1.5 hours later and they still haven't came yet... I just swapped the first load I took out back. Now for the second one :hmm:

Hope you're watching your stuff. Some people get their panties in a twist when they forget about their laundry and you move it for them.
