Based on the first pic (I don't even know what the second one is!), I'd say "no".

The unit is broken, and very unlikely to be fixable - a new optical drive would probably be cheaper in any case.

The more important question is: is the hard drive OK?

I couldn't tell you the last time I used the DVD drive in either of my laptops.

It's probably not worth the fix, I would just buy an external USB DVD drive if you really needed a spare one.

If you don't use the DVD drive much, you might just want to replace it with a hard drive caddy to allow you to add a 2nd hard drive to your laptop (if one is available for your model laptop).

Otherwise, you can probably find a cheap replacement on eBay, though you may have to replace the outside bezel with the one on your broken drive for it to match your laptop. If you haven't removed a DVD drive (you'll have to remove the body of the old drive) from your laptop before, you can probably find instructions via Google or even a Youtube video.

Replacement dvd drives are like $15. They are all a standard size, only difference is the bezel, which is swappable between dvd drives.
