When you're using the computer and everything works great, do you really need to think about it? I can't see inside my computer when I use it. If you can't see it, it doesn't matter.

if the ram is properly seated in the socket, it will work 100%. you can pretty much assume that plastic is useless - if it doesn't have any metal in it, it's not really a computer part.
but don't, i'm just exaggerating. but your ram will work fine.

And I thought that it was bad, when I yanked out my video card out of my ASRock 990FX Extreme4 board, and it destroyed the PCI-E locking mechanism. (I tried to get it loose, honest. I thought that it was the "push to the side" kind, but it wasn't, and it broke.)

I've broke them cheap plastic hold down Dim clips myself - Not that they ever caused me grief other then I wish MB Mfgr's would make them stronger.

The older the MB the more fragile they get.

in order to interact with the circuits, it needs metal. if it doesnt have wires or copper lines coming out of it, it's not fundamental.
of course, it will still have some structural function, such as holding the card upright; but even with it damaged, the actual PCIE strip still works fine.

my cousin managed to rip a 16x pci express slot right off a motherboard.

it takes skill to screw up that badly.

Find the little piece of plastic, superglue it back on, use Bondo to cover the crack, sand, fill, sand, paint.

Helping my friend add another stick of sdram back in the day.

Me- computer off and side panel removed?
Him - yep and I see where the ram goes.
Me - line up the notch from the ram and the slot it goes in an firmly press one end in, then the other.
Him - uh oh. My computer just froze.
Me - you didn't turn off the power!?
Him - no, just the monitor.

Luckily a reboot and it was fine

i managed to rip a pcie16 slot (just the plastic part) right off my mobo. just the metal fingers were poking out of the mobo. just made sure none contacted each other.. used a business cards as a feeler gauge. then plugged the videocard into another pcie16 slot.

its the pc im typing on right now. and that was like 2 years ago that this happened.

EDIT: PS i am not master shakes cousin lmao. read that after i posted this.
