I'm pretty sure this isn't suitable for GW, so I'm posting it here:

I ordered an SMC 24-port switch from AccessMicro.com on Monday; the product was on their main site, and was on sale for $185, new, and in stock. The same day I get a confirmation email explaining that it is being processed -- the next day, that my product was being shipped.

Today when I check my email, I get this:

<< Dear (me)

Thank you for choosing Accessmicro.Com. This e-mail is in reference to order #xxxxxxxxxx and to inform you that part #xxxxx24EZ1024 is currently on backorder. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your order. Unfortunately we do not have an accurate ETA at this time but rest assured we are making every possible effort to fulfill this backorder quickly. If you have multiple items on the order, please call our customer service department or reply to this e-mail to insure the remaining items are processed for shipment or have already shipped. If you wish to cancel the remaining parts, please call or reply to this e-mail promptly. We will be happy to help in any way possible. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for the order.

Thank you,

You'd think they would know this BEFORE telling me my product was being shipped, and they would post that on their site that this item is on backorder? I can't believe this ... I'm hosting a 50 player CS lan party coming up and now I don't know what the hell to do...

They may not have known it. They are probably drop-shipping the item directly from their distributor.

Ahh, there's always a positive side. Never thought about that Russ -- I'll give them a shout tomorrow and see what's up.. I won't cancel my order as I have been planning. :)

Looking at resellerratings.com, though... things don't look so good for them -- quite a few people are complaining about this very same thing :(
