Accessing NT workstations in W98 peer to peer network

I manage a patchwork quilt of 20 pcs running w98, win 95, wfw 3.11/DOS windows etc in a peer to peer network. During the past year, we bought new equipment which have PC front ends running NT workstation. While these pcs see the rest of the network fine, the non NT pcs cannot access the files in the NTs. In windows Explorer as soon as you click on NT pcs, you get a pop up window : resource name: \\name\\ipc$ Enter network password:_____ I do not recall the techs who set up these equipment putting in any password (they didnt tell me about it). Who do we get rid of this?

You have to log in to your Win9x machines with a vaild user name that exists on the NT box, or you simply enable the guest account on the NT machine.

and go to network properties
and than add cliant for ms networks
and than properties on that
and than look in one of the tabs but somewhere in there it asks
for the domain name to login to
and than u can disable the guest accout

He won't be able to log onto the domain because he has a simple peer to peer network. There is no domain controller hence, no domain.

Just make sure that the workgroup you specify is the same.
