Accessing my XP computer from my WinME now wants password?

I have a 2 computer twisted cable network at home which was running fine and sharing both ways under Win98SE but I have now upgraded one computer to WinXP Pro and the other to WinME. I can access the WinME from the Pro but not vice versa. I get a 'enter password' request. When I type in my administrator password, it says wrong. I also tried my user password but that isn't accepted either. I have not entered any other passwords so need to clear it or reset. Anyone?

I also cant find the setup windows to change the IP address in WinME now. Where has that gone?

Have you set up a user account and password of the WinME machine on the XP box (control panel->users)? I think that XP, like Win2k, will not allow access unless you've set up an account with the name of the accessing (ME) computer.

Don't skip the password in setting up the account, either. 2k gets ornery, and XP might, too.
