Accessing MS Access Database file is slow over network

Would anyone familiar with MS access know why all of the sudden using an access database file stored on a file server is slow all of the sudden? It opens fine but when they run queries in it it takes like 30secs or more where as before it would be pretty much almost instantaneous.

this affects all users that use the file off the file server. Before about 2 weeks ago it was fine. there was no slowness to it.

The setup is nothing fancy. it is in a shared folder on a file server
