Accessing Gmail on PC

I've started playibg with gmail on the phone/tablet and wanted to log into it on my desktop. For some reason, I can't figure out how to do so without creating a new gmail email address first. Anyone know a workaround for this?
 
That does not work, prompts me to select a gmail email address to add to my account as I mentioned.
 
It should let you login. If it does not, try the other link I posted to sign into your Google Account
Seems like you need to do it the first time from the Add Account screen.
Try clearing any cookies set by Google or Gmail .. More info at this link:

Only when you click on the "Add account" link, you are taken to a page where you are allowed to enter an alternate email address and password that you want to sign in with.

Each account that you add this way is added to the list of accounts that you can switch between. So, whenever you want to change accounts, you need to perform the very same steps to do so. Instead of clicking on "add account" on the "choose an account" page, you may select an account that you have previously added. That too requires you to go through the process, so instead of being able to sign in with a different account directly, you need to click twice before you can do so.
 
I'm already signed into my account, but when I try to access gmail on the pc I get this, even though this account already has gmail open on android devices.

I use postbox express for all my PC gmail needs.

granted, it's outdated and not supported any more, but it works perfectly for me.

also, to use programs like postbox express with gmail, you must go into your gmail settings and turn on "allow less secure apps".
 
Seems like your google account doesn't have gmail? What kind of account do you have?

The only way to get that dialog is if you have a google account with your own email address. You need to create an @gmail.com account to use gmail. I don't understand how you can have gmail open on your phone if you don't have an @gmail.com address. I am guessing it is just your ISP or whatever email that is open in the gmail app.

I typed gmail.com on my browser, and google redirected e towards this link with this interface. from here, ii just entered my email address and clicked NEXT. the next screen prompted me for password and that was it. :/ are you not getting the same screen when you type gmail.com?

Try a different browser. I opened gmail in IE (which I never use on this machine) and it opens the same page XSoldier77X posted above.
 
Just tried in edge. I first get that log in page he posted, and after logging in to google i get the same add a gmail email address page I showed before.

Did you read my reply above? do you have an @gmail.com login or a different one? you need an @gmail.com login to use gmail.

So, if you send an email from your phone to another email address of yours, what is the email address? is that what you are logging in to this page with?

Which is what I asked in the first post, can you log into gmail on the pc without a gmail address (As I currently do on various android devices)

No, and I don't see how you can login to gmail on android when you don't have a gmail account.
 
We know that the OP has a Google account. We don't know that he has a gmail account (and yes, you can have one without the other).

I'm assuming it would have same result as when I tried vie IE, after logging into google account still redirected me to create a gmail address.

Ahh, I think I might know. I setup a new gmail account not too long ago; But it wouldn't let me without a phone number or another email address. Stupid, I know. They probably just want to collect phone numbers.

Actually no that doesn't make sense, you already have an account. Hmm... not quite sure.
