Accessing files from old PC

I recently built my new computer and wanted to transfer my files from my computer but it wont let me view them because the folder was private i remember there was a way to undo it anyone remember?

You have to take ownership of the files/folders.

right click the folder and go to properties and then into security settings

You have to make the current user account the owner of the items
